Expatfile is an ambitious scale-up in the international tax return software market. US expats worldwide use the software to complete their annual tax returns in just 10 minutes. The goals for 2024 are hefty: in one year, sales should go over the top and preferably even faster. But, before we started to run towards any goal, we needed to establish a solid foundation. Through a customised customer journey design, we created an overview and structure. Right down to the email, every touchpoint was incorporated into the journey. Together with Expatfile, we scrutinised the performance of existing marketing campaigns and identified opportunities for improvement. From flows for unengaged contacts to automated retargeting.
The focus was on marketing actions that underperformed, but had an essential role in the journey and could increase conversion in the short term—for instance, drop-off e-mails closer to payment or the timing of the welcome e-mail to retain subscribers.
